Definition of laminated glass
Laminated glass, also known as safety glass, is manufactured by sandwiching two or more pieces of float glass together with a strong polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film in between. The film is then compressed using a hot-press machine to remove as much air as possible from the interlayer, after which the assembly is placed in a high-pressure steam autoclave, where the remaining trace amounts of air are dissolved into the film under high temperature and pressure. Compared with other types of glass, laminated glass offers superior performance in terms of impact resistance, anti-theft protection, bulletproof capabilities, and explosion-proof properties. When laminated glass breaks, the fragments remain adhered to the glue layer and rarely scatter.
